Happy One Day Anniversary to Bridget Blogs!!! (Truly gotta celebrate the small accomplishments, am I right??)
And already back with another post, I’m impressed with my hard-work and dedication (or just procrastinating report writing…). Staying on theme, I thought it’d be fitting to share some of my favorite things as of late for post two, especially considering those that know me know that I am nothing if not a culmination of my current hyperfixations.
As I am quite a talented procrastinator, I ~multitasked~ by not only starting a blog yesterday, but also a new show. I know, I know, hold the applause. Well, okay, not new per se, but I’m beginning a rewatch of The Fosters. This is one of my favorites, as is everything released between 2004-2013 by the CW or Freeform (formerly ABC Family, rip), but one I haven’t rewatched as often as my teen drama “Big Three,” which is of course, One Tree Hill, The Vampire Diaries, and Gossip Girl. People who don’t rewatch shows, how?? I’ve seen each of those at least three or four times all the way through. Do you people enjoy living life on the edge?? I could never… Watching a new show takes too much mental exhaustion. That says a lot about my mental capacity and attention span as of late, I think lol.
I’m currently on episode 5 and I have found myself wondering what I was doing watching this show in elementary school. Like I legitimately had the thought “what was I doing watching this at twelve years old??” I’m that person all of a sudden… Yikes. I really base my shows nowadays off of what I’m going to sleep through. In casual conversation at work a few months ago, one of my colleagues legitimately said “I’m sleeping through ___ right now.” That is truly one of the most relatable things I’ve ever heard, and I have since taken it on. Now that I have my siiiiick projector setup, sleeping through shows has never been better (or easier to do) now that I don’t have to worry about pushing my laptop on the floor. Another reason I cannot watch new shows. I fully knock out in 10 minutes and wake up 4 episodes later… Not conducive for taking in new content.
I remember watching the first 10 episodes of this show over and over when it first came out. I think I even purchased it on Amazon Prime to download and rewatch, and it shows. 11 years later and I can almost quote full scenes. The Fosters is such a great show though, and definitely a few years ahead of it’s time. If you somehow missed it in its prime, it’s 1000% worth the watch. Disney+ for my Europeans, and Hulu (I think?) for the Americans.
Another current favorite is the ACOTAR series. I know, I know, join the club. But I gotta say, it’s popular for a reason. Is it the best piece of literature I have ever consumed? Absolutely not. The girlies get it though, it truly hits different. I’m on the third book and am eating it up. I’m not really a binge reader, so I have been picking the series up off and on for a couple months, but still, it is so good. And since I have been trying to embrace popular things these days, unlike my too cool, side bangs having, American Eagle branded t-shirt wearing middle school days, I am proud to say that I’m a fan.
The other popular thing I’m embracing is….Taylor Swift. I was never a Taylor hater, but I really didn’t get the hype for the longest time. While I, of course, jammed to Love Story and You Belong With Me, as any self-respecting girl in the early 2000s would, I never understood the full allure. Not that I am fully bought into all of the Easter Egg and deep diving culture, though to each their own, I am fully bought into the Eras Tour of it all. Like I do, I am claiming myself the true Swiftie because I have not given Scooter as much money because I’m only allowing myself to listen to the Taylor’s Versions when they get released. Yeah, yeah, I know, legit Swiftie behavior. (I’m on the edge of my seat for Reputation, btw… I’ve only heard the ones on the Eras Tour setlist.) As a lifelong Chiefs fan, I would like to formally thank my fav, Travis Kelce, for bringing me to Taylor Swift. Who knew the 2023-24 NFL season was going to make me a back-to-back Super Bowl Champion and a Swiftie??
Oh football…What a lovely sport, played outdoors. Do you know what else is outdoors? Me, this summer. How was that for a Taylor Swift song intro/segue? Okay, outdoors is a stretch, but I am fully embracing the European summer vibe. There is truly nothing better than sitting outside, sipping a coffee and eating a croissant with a good book. Just wait until I can get on a rooftop!!!! That is the PEAK summer, outside dining experience. And beach time? Cannot be beat. I was never a summer person, but I may be turning the corner?? I say that until I return to humid 100ºF Midwest summer, let’s be real.
The last of my current favorites, and perhaps the one that took me most by surprise, is exercise. Like actually enjoying it, for once. After the half-marathon I ran recently, I really wanted to stay consistent with my running. That and, like all other twenty-somethings, I gotta keep it up for Run Club, DUH!!! But I have not only found myself running for fun, but also wanting to do other things, like getting back into yoga and HIIT. Running is still, by far, my favorite. Something about putting a good podcast on and getting to zone out is the best. We’ll see if I stay delulu and actually commit to a FULL marathon next year… That is definitely ambitious considering how my half went, but we shall see.
Wow. Writing this I am realizing how absolutely unoriginal I am. Well, like I said, these things are popular for a reason and I am not ashamed.
ttyl,
B (or insert any other twenty-something year old’s name here lol)
